Roofline system is a broad term covering a few major parts of the edge of the roof, a pivotal part in the overall upkeep of the home. Throughout the year, rain, snow, and sleet pour onto your roof, bringing with them leaves, twigs, and all other sorts of debris. To combat this, most houses have guttering systems lining the edge of the roof. This filters the water down off of the roof, minimizing water contact with the siding of the house. Knowing how this works with the soffit and fascia is important to understand why you may need to update your own.
The soffit is the area of the roof that extends from the edge of the house, out to the gutter, along the underside of the roof. This area can help in the ventilation of a house, and is an important part of the roofline that adds stability. A fascia is a part of the roofline, which runs under the roof edge and caps the rafters of a house. It is the part of the edge that is visible, and is used to hold the guttering in place. Cladding is an added cover for these areas, made of uPVC or metal in some cases, adding strength, longevity, and esthetic appeal.
The soffit and fascia of most roofline systems can sag and strip with water damage, causing both structural and visual problems. High-quality versions of these can better stand up to weather. Cladding can improve this ability even further.
